SUMMARY:Nicaragua Mission Trip Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Take me out to the ball game!\nOn March 27 the Nicaragua Mission Team (Christ thru Baseball) is hosting a cookout and wiffle ball games at Bill Wood Park to raise funds for their trip in July.  This event will take the place of our usual Wednesday night dinner with the same costs ($5 per person\, 3 and under are free\, family max of $20 paid at the door). Dinner will be provided by Hallie Jane of Empire Mills. \nMenu includes: \n\nHamburgers and dogs with fixins and condiments\nPasta salad\nPotato chips\nSummer Broccoli salad\nPopsicles\n\nAdditional donations are encouraged with all proceeds helping offset the volunteers’ cost of the trip. You can give directly to the mission trip using the link below or by cash or check (please note Nicaragua Mission Trip in the memo line). \nPlease bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs and meet at the tee-ball field pavilion.  In case of inclement weather\, we will meet at Empire Mills – 1290 Pennington Rd.\, Madison\, GA 30650. \nA headcount is needed for dinner preparations\, please register by 3/24. \nRegister for dinnerDONATE TO THE MISSION TRIP\nMore about the Mission Trip:\nFellow Morgan County residents\, Lisa and Shane Daniel\, are the directors Baseball thru Christ which they founded in 2019. When first visiting Nicaragua on a mission trip to build churches\, Shane and Lisa discovered a group of boys building a chicken fighting pit. When asking them why\, they said they had nothing better to do. The boys liked to play baseball but did not have equipment. The Daniels committed to bringing baseball equipment in the next year. In the first tournament\, seven teams played\, were fed\, clothed\, housed\, and were transported across the country. God’s vision of using baseball as a tool for reaching young men for Him was then established. The ministry has grown into annual tournaments where the pastor from each community attends and provides outreach to the families and communities. At each tournament\, many boys give their lives to Christ and then return to their communities where they are plugged into the local church. \nWhere we come in—the ministry needs volunteers to come and help with the next baseball tournament for boys from various cities in the country of Nicaragua. The tournament is scheduled for July 13-20\, 2024. The Daniels dream of having an entire team of US boys come (with parents/guardians) and compete in the tournament. Time will tell when that dream materializes\, and in the meantime\, the opportunities for service during the tournament week are for all adults and kids and are many and varied.
